Description
This will be the first class in a series intended to examine six great artists whose life's works capture their times in European history and whose art has had a powerful influence on Western art over time. These artists will include: Michelangelo of the Italian High Renaissance, Gianlorenzo Bernini and Caravaggio of the Italian Baroque, Rembrandt of the Dutch Baroque, Jacques Louis David of French Neoclassicism and Romanticism, and finally Francisco Goya of Spanish Romanticism. A second class will be offered in the spring that will cover artists of 19th century Romanticism, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism.
