OSHER 593 - Vincent Price and Poe

Price and Poe: a match made in heaven. Over the course of only four years, Price made no less than seven Edgar Allen Poe films with Roger Corman's film company. Though not exactly strictly adhering to the original stories, the films are some of Price's best work. Spooky, atmospheric, and always with more than a wink towards the audience, these films are a riot and theatrical to the hilt. We will be watching five of the seven Price / Poe films, and one film very closely related to the others in the theatre department (Price considered it his best film). We will also explore how these films differentiated from the source material and perhaps why. Come join me, won't you?
