Description
Participants will be introduced to three primary poetic tools through in-class exercises led by the instructor: how to use figurative language like a maestro, how to find original subjects to write about, and how to create poems in a form (not sonnets, not villanelles, etc.) that people forget is a great form in the first place. There will be two poetry-writing assignments, and the results will be gathered into a .doc file for all class participants - like a mini e-Book, like the best mail you will get all week. Part 1: Good Similes Make Good Neighbors. Part 2: How to Write a How-To Poem.
