Description
This class will focus on our brains as we age. We will look at how we can enjoy a healthier, happier and more prepared quality of life as we age. Topics will include: The basic biology of the aging brain and how that biology affects the risk for cognitive impairment (dementia). The ways to identify and manage brain illness as we age Alzheimer's and other dementias. The difference between mild cognitive impairment and dementia. The role of the family and caregivers in dementia care. How to address and plan for the end of life, what's important, what's not. This class will help to make people feel more comfortable about aging and give them tools and skills to make good decisions about their (or a loved one's) quality of life. It is an interactive program with lots of discussion. Families are encouraged to participate together.
