HONOR 4673 - Shakespeare at Cedar City

This workshop will focus on the summer productions of the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City. Introductory sessions will discuss the plays as literary texts in terms of plot action, character, themes, discourse and structure. We will then see the plays in production during a weekend in Cedar City and closely observe the theatrical spaces and production values through a backstage tour and interviews with actors and designers. We will then return to Salt Lake City for discussion of the plays in performance in terms of space, stage design, costumes, music, lighting, acting, directorial conception and execution.
