Description
NURS 7065, a role immersion course, is the final clinical course for students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree Program (Neonatal Nurse Practitioner [NNP] Specialty Track). This course allows the NNP student to fully synthesize the theoretical and clinical content of the NNP Program. As fully as possible, students engage in the NNP role to the full extent of their education and training. The student is expected to demonstrate that he/she has become a competent entry-level NNP adept at the diagnosis and management of all neonatal patients in a Level III or IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The student uses in depth theoretical knowledge, evidence-based practice and advanced neonatal management skills and techniques. Students apply leadership skills to identify opportunities and strategies to promote the NNP role in the health care organization through system and policy development and quality improvement.
