Description
This course will cover the timeline of what happens to an individual from the time of death to final disposition of their remains. Emphasis will be on those deaths that fall under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiner's Office and will cover the following: death scene investigations; what is an autopsy?; why is a death a Medical Examiner case?; who issues a death certificate?; types of injuries and their interpretations; drug-related deaths; organ and tissue donation; and the preparations are done by a funeral home prior to a funeral or cremation. Speakers will join the course to speak about Intermountain Donor Services, the work of a funeral director, and the role of a medical examiner investigator. Some topics and photos will be of a graphic nature. Please take this into consideration before signing up.
