OSHER 360 - An Overview of the Topaz Internment Experience

Osher is happy to host Rick Okabe, a member of the Topaz Museum Board, for a one-time lecture and overview of what led up to the creation of ten camps that held over 120,000 Japanese Americans, as well as the 11,000 that lived at Topaz near Delta, Utah. Rick has been a member of the Topaz Museum since 1994. He helped oversee the construction of the current museum, and will share his thoughts on how the museum, originally intended to preserve historical artifacts, has led him to understand that the U.S.'s history of internment can be used to protect the rights of all people.
