SCI 6990 - Professional Development Seminar

What will you be doing after graduation? The time to prepare for your career is now because building the necessary skills and professional relationships takes time. This seminar is open to all graduate students in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics & Astronomy. We will help you develop essential career skills and provide preparation for both academic and non-academic careers through modules on job search tools, professional networking, CVs and resumes, interview skills, and negotiation skills. We will use the Individual Development Plan framework that helps students match their qualifications, interests, and values with career options, and identifies strategic goals for gaining needed career skills. We will also prepare CVs and resumes, conduct mock interviews, and practice professional networking and negotiation. This course meets for 2 hours per week for 7 weeks. This course can be repeated for credit.
