ELP 6290 - Community Engaged Partnerships

This course examines the history, philosophy, principles and practices involved with school, family, and community partnerships in K-12 public schools. The course is grounded in social justice and the principle of equity in student access, opportunity and achievement. Thus, this course focuses on the ways in which family and community partnerships support the academic, social, emotional, and cultural needs o f students within school communities. We will pay particular attention to how leaders develop, plan, implement, evaluate and sustain authentic school, family, and community partnerships. This course provides a healthy balance of theory, research and practice to guide the development of leadership skills and dispositions necessary for creating socially just partnerships with families and communities.
