MG EN 5350 - Mining Safety & Health Management

This course will cover the tenets of effective mine safety and health management. students will understand the theory and practice of safety and health management from strategy to aspects of practical application, including but not limited to: risk management, regulatory compliance, management systems, organizational culture, leadership, occupational health, behavior, ergonomics and human factors, among others. the role of the engineer in safety and health management will be explored including cost benefit analysis, hierarchy of controls, ethics and whole system design. This course is appropriate for mining or metallurgical engineering students and anyone with a general interest in safety and health management as a career.
