Description
Connect with the history of photography while creating contemporary works of art! The Van Dyke Brown photographic printing process, invented in 1842, is a cousin to the Cyanotype, but instead yields a rich brown hued image. Students will learn a brief history of the Van Dyke Brown process, as well as best practices for creating unique prints and troubleshooting techniques to help make their images look even better. Topics will include: choosing the right medium (paper, fabric, glass, etc); how to mix the chemistry; how to apply the chemistry (emulsion); sunning & developing the print; and bleaching and toning. Special fee covers all chemistry, brushes, paper and miscellaneous supplies.
