Description
This course instructs students in substance-related abuse and addiction disorders. Students will address the implications for these disorders across the lifespan and in the context of their own and the patient's sociocultural history; the patient's medical history and their current physical status. Relevant literature will be reviewed and integrated into a scholarly document for dissemination. Treatment options for the various disorders will be determined based on the population, the culture and access to resources. This course uses a cooperative learning model and requires experiential activities in the community.
