Description
This course has three general objectives. First, it will introduce the statistical theory that underlies hierarchical linear models (AKA multilevel models). Second, it will describe and illustrate with examples a number of contexts in which hierarchical linear modeling techniques may be more appropriate methods of data analysis than traditional methods such as ANOVA or multiple regression. Third, it will provide "hands-on" experience with computer programs for analyzing hierarchical linear models.
