Description
Pendants have been worn as a symbol of identity, status, for safeguarding the body and soul, and purely as objects of beauty throughout time. Students will explore many facets of metal smithing through the process of making a one-of a-kind, individually inspired pendant. Techniques will include but are not limited to sawing, forming, texturing, stamping, engraving, filing, soldering, roll printing and finishing skills. Students will consider both design and the creation of meaning within a piece of jewelry, and produce a piece based on these explorations of metaphor and symbol. Students are responsible for supplies. Materials you need to purchase will be discussed the first night of class - cost will depend on student's selection of metals and stones. Special fee covers studio and equipment rental.
