MATH 6090 - Advanced Topics in the History of Mathematics

This course is part of the curriculum specific to the emphasis in Mathematics Teaching. Each semester, one or two particular topics are discussed from a historical perspective, tracing the demise of failed interpretations as well as the development of the current understanding. Illuminating the difficulties associated with understanding a topic by examining wrong turns deepens understanding.
