Description
This course empowers students to both generate entrepreneurial opportunities and also create new economic value and/or social welfare. The format of this course is more conversational and interactive than lecture-oriented. Students will work in highly collaborative, team-based setting to analyze two types of unique case studies: 1) Science Cases, which spotlight innovative scientists and are framed by the scientific methods, and 2) Startup Cases, which spotlight innovative entrepreneurial startups who have effectively implemented the scientific method to create brilliant products/services. The course includes terrific readings in entrepreneurship and science to complement the cases. This course culminates in a team project where students will extensively research, analyze, and create their own prototypes. Teams will then showcase their prototypes at the Entrepreneurs Fair, where fellow students, faculty, and local entrepreneurs/VCs will comm and vote on the best team prototype.
