MUSC 6536 - History of Theory

Survey of a variety of theoretical systems, treatises, and trends in the history of music theory. Primary and secondary readings on topics relating to melody and harmony, theories of tonality and other musical systems, form, acoustics, and rhythm and meter, and others will be supplemented by close readings of particular works.
