BUS 3173 - The Sociology of Men and Women at Work

This course explores gender, work and the "who gets what." We examine definitions of what counts as work, review the concept of gender, and we compare different definitions of inequality more broadly. We will also assess how different ways of understanding inequality can give us different ideas about the extent of gender inequality at work and the social forces that create and reinforce gender inequality at work and the social forces that create and reinforce gender disparities. We will also discuss the practical implications of the social science research covered in this class.
