Description
This course will draw on a diverse set of topics at the intersection of health law and human rights. Among the topics we will discuss will be organ donation and human trafficking, climate change and public health, global responses to HIV and pandemics, access in rural areas, medical tourism, care for prisoners and immigrants, end of life issues, rationing of health care, and mandatory treatment for disorders such as obesity and mental illness. The course will address these topics from the perspective of property law, privacy, distributive justice, administrative law, U.S. and foreign constitutional law, human rights treaties and conventions, and theories relying on the free-market.
