Description
This course will begin with an introduction to the work of crime scene investigators, describing and discussing forensic investigation processes and professional standards and associations. Case studies will cover one or more forensic skills or topics. The differences and similarities between operational police crime laboratories, the Utah State Crime Laboratory and the
FBI Forensic Services Laboratories will be described and explained. During the final class, students will attempt two latent fingerprint identifications from five or more suspect fingerprint cards. An optional seventh week tour of the Salt Lake Police Department Crime Laboratory will be arranged if sufficient interest exists.
