Description
Terrorism Law is a new and evolving area of legal study in the United States. Prior to the unprecedented attacks on September 11, 2001, the U.S. legal system treated terrorist acts as standard criminal activities. However, since 9/11, traditional freedoms and liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights have been challenged by the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches. After the 9/11 attacks George W. Bush claimed unprecedented presidential authority in this area. What is President Barack Obama doing? This class will provide a study guide highlighting past actions of the U.S. Supreme Court, utilize video, and encourage class discussion. The legal area of Terrorism Law is changing weekly, and deserves questions and group analysis.
