Description
Starting your bee colony was the first step in reaping the rewards of delicious, natural honey. The next step is keeping your bees healthy. In this class, you'll learn the preventive steps necessary to keep your hive healthy, when and how to check your hive to ensure that it is working well, and what to do about problems that may develop. Along the way we will discuss bee biology, common diseases and their symptoms, and serious problems such as colony collapse and Africanized bees. Emphasis will be placed on natural management practices and minimizing chemical use, practices which lead to a healthier experience for you and your bees. One meeting will be in the field.
