Description
This course will survey federal and state law protection for intellectual property, including patents, copyrights, trademarks and related state law concepts such as trade secrets and rights of publicity. We will cover the appropriate forms of protection for various kinds of information, as well as each doctrine's relation to the others and to other policies, such as freedom of expression and promotion of competition. The impact of international law, and trade agreements, particularly NAFTA and GATT, will also be examined.
