FP MD 5540 - Refugees in Utah-A Public Health Issue

The course will focus on refugees as a group and the impact to the public health system and their own health status as they move through the resettlement and adaptation process. Students will be exposed to both the global and local public health issues relative to refugees through lecture, reading and discussion. The focus of their service learning project will be participation in a needs assessment process focused on refugees and governmental and non-government agencies that serve them.
