HIST 4000 - Archaeology as History: Theory, Method and Practice

Meets with HIST 6000. The purpose of this course is to give historians a basic understanding of the archaeological record. The course begins with an overview of archaeological method and theory. After this introduction to the fundamentals of archaeology, it focuses on interpretation, addressing such questions as how archaeological data can be used both to reconstruct the past and to build historical models.
