LLART 187 - A Hands-on Look at Contemporary Art

Familiar with Picasso but not sure why his work struck such a chord in the art world? Love Mondrian?s blocks of color but shaky on his place in art history? In this class, we'll study four contemporary artists and their movements in a most unusual way. Not only will we review their major works, we will look at how each fits into today's art world, then spend the rest of each class creating our own art based on the featured artist?s style. Explore cubism, abstract expressionism, minimalism, and post-modernism in this hands-on class; no previous art experience is required.
