Description
Now you see it, now you don't. Watch the moon as it passes into and out of the earth's umbral shadow for a total eclipse only the second time this phenomenon has been visible in North America since 2004. The eclipse begins at 8:00 PM, so we'll be in prime position to get a dark-sky view of this astral event. In addition to the lunar show, you'll receive tips on snowshoe technique, instruction in winter emergencies, hot cocoa, and snacks. Please bring boots suitable for snow and snowshoes (rentable at REI or through the U's Outdoor Program, among others). You will be notified where to meet before class. Bruce and Patty have been guiding and instructing wilderness adventure classes since 1986; both are certified in first aid and CPR.
