OSHER 550 - Water-wise Landscaping

Learn how to garden with native and water-wise plants. We will teach you the basics of garden design, which you can then apply to projects ranging from designing a small patch of your yard to a complete landscape design. We will discuss plant selection, water zoning/drip irrigation basics, installation techniques, and maintenance requirements. Red Butte Garden is the perfect place to see and learn about native and water-wise plants that are suitable for use in our area, including bulbs, trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, turf-grass substitutes, herbs, ground-covers, and vines. Part of each class period will be devoted to walking in the garden to see plants and their use in a designed environment.
