Description
This course teaches students how to identify the underlying psychological dynamics of food obsession. It is geared to those interested in treating clients who are bulimic, anorexic, or obese. The borderline-narcissistic continuum is discussed as well as integration of Mahler's separation-individuation theory in relation to eating disorders. Students learn how to formulate a treatment plan including individual, family, and group psychotherapy. Difficult cases are presented to understand particular problems that arise in treatment. Class lectures and presentations are used. **Course offered Spring Only**
