Description
Designed for the adventuresome student who has always been curious about theatre and who possesses a strong social and community consciousness. The MMM workshop will attempt to create a "social-issue-focused theatre" experience to be shared with an audience at the end of the semester. The class chooses which social or community issue they wish to focus on such as: environment, homelessness, drug abuse, child abuse, or a combination of several issues. Background and research for our workshop performance will be gathered through assigned readings, shared readings, dialogue with professionals, and programs already dealing with the chosen social issue(s). Background and skill training in the theatre arts (acting, directing, playwriting, and designing) will be taught experientally while the class simultaneously works on the semester-long performance project.
