Description
This undergraduate course explores the intersection of pediatric health, equity, and social determinants of health (SDOH), focusing on health disparities among children. While centered on pediatric health, the course also examines the impact of poverty, racial disparities, and structural factors that contribute to intergenerational economic challenges. Students will gain insight into how social, economic, and environmental factors influence children's health outcomes and well-being into adulthood. The course aims to equip students with the skills to critically analyze these determinants and advocate for health equity among children and adolescents. The course consists of two components: a weekly class lecture and 3 hours/week screening patients and families for social needs and connecting them to community resources at Primary Children’s Hospital.
