This course is designed to prepare students to sit for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 exam. Approximately half of the topics and learning outcomes will be covered in this course. It is intended to be paired with FINAN 4610 to give a complete overview of all exam topics. Students will become familiar with the style of questions asked on the exam, and, since CFA Institute does not publish prior exams, students will be offered insight into what is most likely going to show up on their exam. The CFA Program is a three-part exam that tests the fundamentals of investment tools, valuing assets, portfolio management, and wealth planning. The CFA Program provides a strong foundation in advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills. The University of Utah participates in the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program (UAP), which provides the course instructor with access to the CFA Level 1 exam learning ecosystem to provide the most current exam prep information. The UAP also provides some student scholarships for those interested in registering and sitting for the CFA Level 1 exam. The University additionally partners with test prep providers to receive materials at a substantial discount, providing students with enhanced access to study materials for the actual exam. This course is taught by an investment management professional who is a current CFA charterholder.

This course is designed to prepare students to sit for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 exam. Approximately half of the topics and learning outcomes will be covered in this course. It is intended to be paired with FINAN 6610 to give a complete overview of all exam topics.
