MDCRC 6190 - Introduction to Clinical Problem Solving

Intro to Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) focuses on a structured process of strategic analysis for complex clinical problems, as a framework for effective development of novel new medical therapies and devices. This process begins with needs assessments, including evaluation of diagnostic processes, current therapeutic approaches and clinical outcomes. The course will provide the academic foundation for mastery of a structured problem-solving process from clinical needs finding to needs analysis. Students will learn to approach real-world clinical problems from a global perspective, and then to identify diagnostic and therapeutic deficiencies that can be addressed through the process of innovating medical technologies. The text-based lecture series will be complemented with interactive lectures that provide real-world examples of the medical innovation process, from guest lecturers who have successfully navigated the strategic bio design process and impacted healthcare through innovative technologies.
